I love it all!

I was born and raised in Kelowna BC.  My first sporting love was soccer, but I also loved the challenge of running as fast and hard as I could.  I joined the Kelowna Track and Field Club in grade 8 where my current coach, Mike Van Tighem, and I began working together.  After graduating from Kelowna Secondary School, I attended Stanford University where I was surrounded by amazing people, and was given a fantastic opportunity to pursue athletics and academics.  Upon graduation from Stanford with a degree in International Relations, I decided to pursue my dreams of Olympic and World Championships running. I re-located to Calgary to re-unite with Mike Van Tighem as my coach.  While pursuing a Mater’s Degree in Environmental Design at the University of Calgary, I was also able to achieve some of my athletic goals by qualifying for the Olympic Games in 2004, and setting substantial personal bests.  Over the years, I have been fortunate to represent Canada at the World Cross Country Championships, Olympic Games, World University Games, Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games.  I have competed in Australia, Africa, the Carribean, Asia, and all over Europe and North America.  It has been an amazing experience competing in track and field, which in many parts of the world is a very popular sport for spectating.  Many of the events abroad are as exciting and energetic as professional sports, hockey, football, etc are in North America with sold-out and packed stadiums, bands, music and world class performances.  I have met outstanding individuals from around the world, including my husband, Graham Hood, who also competed for Canada in the 1500m. Along with Graham and our dog Max, I recently moved to  Kelowna, BC where to live, work and train as I prepare for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Personal Best Performances:

800m – 2:02.69
